About Taylor

I have a doctorate in psychology, a master's in mental health counseling, and a story I never expected to tell.

I spent years studying the human mind and putting what I learned into practice in my own life. But when the very ideas I trusted to make me well seemed to leave my life in pieces, I began asking questions I hadn't known to ask.

And the more I followed Jesus, the more I found myself having to unlearn.

That journey became my first book, The Pond We're Swimming In - an exploration of the ideas we've absorbed about mental health, identity, and what it means to be well.

How I Got Here

My story began with a desire to help people heal. But as I began examining the ideas I'd been taught, I realized they weren't just shaping therapy rooms. They were shaping our families, relationships, culture, and understanding of ourselves.

And many of those ideas had become so familiar that we rarely thought to question them.

But when I became a mother, the stakes changed. I could no longer stay quiet about the ideas shaping the world my children would grow up in.

What does it really mean to be mentally healthy?

Beyond the Book

Much of my professional life has been devoted to animal-assisted therapy, a field I remain deeply passionate about.

But once I realized the house was on fire, I knew I had to do more than send in a therapy dog.

Today, my work focuses on the cultural and spiritual forces shaping our understanding of mental health and what it means to be human.

Outside of writing and speaking, I'm a wife, a mom to three boys, and a Jesus-follower committed to going wherever He leads.
